Working Together to Achieve Justice: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Working through the pre- and post-pandemic challenges of plea negotiations

Craig Mastantuono, of Mastantuono Coffee & Thomas SC, will moderate a conversation with Kent Lovern, Milwaukee County Chief Deputy District Attorney, Anthony White, Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney, Meera Al-Henaey, Assistant State Public Defender, Local Attorney Manager, and Arial Rosenberg, Assistant State Public Defender and Local Attorney Manager.

Kent Lovern is the Chief Deputy District Attorney for Milwaukee County. A prosecutor for over 26 years, he oversees the administration of an office comprised of over 125 attorneys and 150 support staff. He also oversees several crime-prevention collaborations between the District Attorney’s Office and other community partners. He has prosecuted general crimes, domestic violence, major drug, gun and gang offenders, and police misconduct cases. He currently serves on the boards of MKE Urban Stables, the Urban Ecology Center, the Rotary Club of Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Continuum of Care. He is a former board member of Sojourner Family Peace Center and the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Greater Milwaukee. 

Anthony White graduated from Lawrence University in 2000 and then received his law degree from Marquette Law School in 2005. He started work as an Assistant DA at the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in May 2005 within a couple of weeks of graduating law school. He has prosecuted misdemeanor cases, domestic violence cases, felony drug cases, and general felony crimes. Attorney White has been assigned to the Early Intervention Unit since 2013.

Craig Mastantuono is a criminal defense attorney with Mastantuono Coffee & Thomas in Milwaukee, practicing in state and federal courts across Wisconsin for 31 years. Outside of the courtroom, he teaches criminal practice as a faculty member at Marquette University Law School; is a member of The American Law Institute which publishes Restatements of the Law, Principles of the Law, and Model Codes; and is a mayoral appointee to the Milwaukee Harbor Commission. Craig received his law degree from DePaul University of Chicago and his undergraduate degree in Business Administration cum laude from Loyola University of Chicago.

Arial Rosenberg is a 2016 graduate of Marquette University Law School. She was admitted to practice in Wisconsin that same year. Arial began her career as an Assistant Public Defender in Milwaukee immediately after graduating from Law School. In 2021, Arial took on a leadership role in the Milwaukee Trial office as a Local Attorney Manager. She currently heads a team of 7 lawyers while maintaining a full calendar of her own cases. Arial is also an adjunct professor at Marquette University Law School where she co-teaches the Public Defender’s Clinic for third-year law students.
