COVID-19, the ADA, and Workplace Issues: Navigating the Reasonable Accommodation Process

Throughout this pandemic, employers and employees have faced situations involving the need for reasonable accommodation. The session will examine who is requesting reasonable accommodation, including employees with COVID-19 and long COVID, disabilities that place employees at higher risk from COVID-19, and mental health conditions. Ms. Rennert will discuss when COVID-19 may be a disability, key steps in conducting an effective “interactive process,” considerations involving telework as a reasonable accommodation, other types of accommodations that may be needed in the workplace, and how to assess if an accommodation causes an undue hardship.
