COVID-19, the ADA, and Workplace Issues: Navigating the Reasonable Accommodation Process

The session will examine who is requesting reasonable accommodation, including employees with COVID-19 and long COVID, disabilities that place employees at higher risk from COVID-19, and mental health conditions. Ms. Rennert will discuss when COVID-19 may be a disability, key steps in conducting an effective “interactive process,” considerations involving telework as a reasonable accommodation, other types of accommodations that may be needed in the workplace, and how to assess if an accommodation causes an undue hardship.
