When Intellectual Property Law Falls Silent: AI Voice Cloning and the Limits of Existing Legal Protections

Artificial intelligence now allows anyone to replicate another person’s voice with minimal audio recordings, raising urgent legal concerns. This CLE examines how existing copyright law, as well as the right of publicity and misappropriation claims, struggle to address AI-generated voice cloning. Although these legal frameworks were designed to protect creative expression, they leave significant gaps when applied to synthetic voice technology. The program analyzes where these safeguards break down and explores what those shortcomings mean for attorneys advising clients in the evolving AI landscape.as AI developments continue to further.
